A Fall Wedding Favor Cookie
Get a leaf-shaped muffin tin. Non-stick is a must.
Pick out red, orange, yellow, brown, even purple crayons.
You can use broken crayon pieces, but pick out colors and shades that you feel fit in with your fall theme. Also, pick some white and dark brown ones. We've found that Crayola crayons are the best for this craft, not as waxy as Rose Art and some other brands.
Peel off the paper wrapper from each crayon (this is probably the most time-consuming part)
Break the crayons into pieces that will fit in your tin. The big chunky ones work great.
Fill each leaf-shaped well with a combination of 15 short crayon pieces. Make sure you have a range of light and dark colors, and experiment with different color combinations.
You'll be pleasantly surprised at how these turn out!
Place the muffin tin on a cookie sheet and bake in a preheated 300 degree oven for about 10 minutes.
Take out the tin when the crayons have liquefied.
Let them cool completely in the tin. Trying to pop them out before they are fully cooled will cause them to break and mess up their shape.
When the cookies are completely cool to the touch- (this only takes about 20-30 minutes tops) pop out the cookies. These crayon cookies are really fun for kids (and a whimsical favor for adults) because you never know what color your crayon will color next.
How cool is that!
Wrap these individually in tulle or saran because some of the crayon will rub off if they're wrapped together. They're a heavy favor for a favor bag, something different, and your guests will love these cool wedding favors.
These are also very budget friendly, not to mention a great wedding favor for kids!
You may have to buy the muffin tin if you don't have one. Look for crayon bits and pieces in your house, if not they are very inexpensive to buy.
You can find tulle in any craft store and usually it's only a few dollars for a lengthy roll of it. Otherwise, wrap them in saran wrap with a ribbon.
This does take time because you're waiting for them to bake and cool, but if you had more than one muffin tin you could always have one in the oven while one is cooling and the time will just fly!
